What You Need to Know:

It has been revealed that Bandai Namco will be releasing a virtual reality game for popular 2D idol franchise, The iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls.
Titled The iDOLM@STER Viewing Revolution, the VR experience allows players to become part of the audience at a Cinderella Girls live concert.
The price is yet to be revealed, but the VR game itself will go on sale on October 13 for PS VR. A PV has also been released - watch it below!

What You Need to Know:

The age of anime virtual reality is quickly approaching. Just last week, Idolmaster revealed that their newest game would give players the ultimate anime VR concert-viewing experience.
Now, it has been revealed that original mecha anime Zegapain will be offering a free-of-charge VR experience as a pre-event for their 10th anniverary celebrations on July 15 from 20:00 Japan time.
By downloading VR service Cluster and logging in with a Twitter account, participants will enter a virtual space and be able to view Maihama Server test commemorative ceremony.

What You Need to Know:

It has been announced that anime producers Polygon Pictures will be producing the first contents for Kodansha's virtual reality idol project, VR Idol Stars Project: Hop Step Sing!, in the form of a VR music video.
The music clip, titled Kisekiteki Shining!, promises viewers a lively and realistic performance only VR can bring. It's said to mix the positive song and cute characters with powerful stage performance and difficult dance moves.
In preparation for its release sometime this summer, a smartphone application is also under construction. This will allow the audience to view the music clip with more accessible smartphone VR headsets. They also hope to provide a global VR streaming service.

Have you heard of Breetschlag? An original project from anime studio Doga Kobo, this anime VR experience allows you to become a fully-fledged magical girl! Your power? Any shapes you draw on the screen with your magical item turn into spells!
The anime VR game already has a version for Oculus Rift, but it's yet to be released for general play. However, various events here in Japan are being held, giving players the opportunity to check it out.
Don't have an Oculus Rift? Don't worry, there's still enjoyable content for you! Check out the two PVs below, for example! The first allows you to use a mobile VR headset such as the Cardboard for an enhanced 360º viewing experience. The second can be enjoyed without any fancy gear!

What You Need to Know:

Alternative Girls - a mix of fantasy RPG and dating simulation game with 13 different girls to get to know. What could make this combination better, you ask? How about a good dose of virtual reality?
No fancy equipment is needed here, as it's a mobile game intended to be used with mobile VR headsets such as the Cardboard. Recently released for both iOS and Android, Alternative Girls features a battle mode, wardrobe mode, and fully-voiced story mode - the latter of which is VR compatible.
It's unclear whether the game will get an English-language release, but it's a great example of where VR could go from here. Check out the PV below!

It was recently revealed that international hit light novel and anime, Sword Art Online, will be getting a live-action drama adaptation - not in Japan, but in the US, for Skydance Television.
Apparently they are also planning on creating a SAO-based VR experience to tie in with the project.
The CEO of Skydance has stated that they want to make a new SAO universe whilst remaining faithful to the original, in order to honour the huge international fanbase.

Ever wanted to have your very own haunted-house episode with a cute girl? Maybe even five girls? Well the lastest VR project from Fuji TV lets you do just that!
Honkowa Presents: Nogizaka46 VR Horror House is a VR experience created for PS VR which allows players to enter a "truly terrifying" haunted house with the official rival idol group to AKB48.
The VR haunted house is available to try out at the ongoing Fuji TV event at Odaiba, Japan until 31 August, but it seems that those abroad wanting to try it will have to wait and see if it gets an official release alongside the PS VR.

Maid cafes are known worldwide as one of THE otaku hotspots. One of said cafes is Maidreamin, a chain which has seven stores in Akihabara alone! Maidreamin not only has their own idol group, they also collaborate with other idol groups, holding concerts in their stores.
But what if you're not in Japan? How can you get in on the action? Fear not - 360Channel, a Japanese site hosting 360º VR videos, has just uploaded two performance videos from idol group BPM15Q (complete with maid outfits, of course) for all to enjoy!

Summer Lesson, which was announced for PS VR last year, allows the player to take up the position of a private tutor for two different girls - a Japanese girl learning English and an American girl learning Japanese.
Recently, it was announced the VR game would be coming to Japan on 13 October 2016. Whether it will be coming out elsewhere is unknown as of yet.

Today is the start of Gunpla Expo World Tour Japan 2016, and everything Gundam has gathered at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro!
One of the main attractions is the virtual reality experience, Gunpla Battle VR. This VR game allows two players to enter a VR space side by side, equipped with VR goggles and controllers. After choosing their Gundam model, they must shoot the enemy whilst avoiding attacks.
Gunpla Expo will run until 14 August and is free to enter, for any of you Gundam fans who are lucky enough to be in Tokyo!

The two idol groups from Koei mobile otome game Tokimeki Restaurant, 3 Majesty and X.I.P, will be holding a virtual reality live performance at DMM VR Theater in Yokohama.
If you're wondering how a VR concert works, it involves using 3DCG holographic technology to project the characters on a real-life stage.
The first half of the VR performance will feature 3 Majesty and the second X.I.P. and the concerts will run from August 6 to 28.

One of the most popular and accessible contents in the anime VR scene at the moment has got to be VR concerts with 2D idols. Of course, vocaloid Hatsune Miku is no exception!
Hatsune Miku VR Future Live is set to go on sale on 13 October 2016 here in Japan for PS VR on the Playstation Store. The game allows players not only to watch but to participate as a member of the audience - and if you surpass certain goals, you can even get a one-on-one personal performance.
If you're lucky enough to live in Japan, Hatsune Miku's first ever orchestra concert, Miku Symphony, will be coming to Tokyo on 26 August. There, visitors will also get the chance to try out the VR Future Live game!

When you think of Japanese idols, AKB48 is always one of the first groups to come to mind. Now, they're some of the first idols to step out into virtual reality!
AKB48's All Night Nippon is a live weekly radio broadcast hosted by various members. Since today's broadcast, though, it's no longer confined to the radio.
Thanks to a collaboration with online livestream video host Showroom, fans can now watch the broadcast live in full VR using their smartphones and mobile VR headsets. If you're interested, make sure to catch the next broadcast here on 25 August 01:00 Japan time!

Japanese Karaoke system developer Joysound has announced that as part of their upcoming Joysound VR service, two 360º videos featuring Golden Bomber will be available. Joysound VR will add a virtual reality function to the already established home karaoke system Joysound.TV Plus.
The first Golden Bomber video will feature the band in the same room as the player, playing the background music and cheering you on. The second will be a VR concert experience, where you become a part of the crowd.
When and where the service will become available and whether other artists will take part in the project is unknown at the moment.

Gameplay

Ever wanted to enter the world of cute anime girls? Now you can! PashaloVR is an application that allows you to watch cute 3D characters dance to in-game music as if they were right in front of you. So how do get started? Well first off, you have two viewing options: normal, where you tilt your mobile device whilst holding it away from you, or split screen, which allows you to make the most of the VR experience using a mobile VR headset such as Google Cardboard.

Once you've made your selection from the configuration menu, click the play button on the home screen. Then it's time to choose your character! There are currently four options: Unity-chan, who has three free performances, Million Doll, who have a free trail and paid options, and the paid Aria the Scarlet Ammo Double A and Punchline, each concert from which cost 65 coins, available to purchase in-game.

Once you've made your character choice, you get to choose which outfit they wear. We're going to play with Unity-chan, who has three different outfit choices!

Now she's all dolled up, it's time to press enter! You're then given ten seconds to put your mobile VR headset on before the performance begins. Once you're in front of the stage, you can hop on the spot to get closer to your girl, or tap the right side of your smartphone to take photographs! There are also two menus available - look down to adjust the angle from crouching to standing or vice versa, or look behind you to cancel the performance and go back to the home screen.

Important: If using a mobile VR headset, please make sure to play in a safe enviroment and be careful of virtual reality sickness!

Ghost in the Shell Virtual Reality Diver

What You Need to Know:

The first ever virtual reality theatre is opening tomorrow in video game arcade Taito Station in Seven Park Ario Kashiwa in Chiba prefecture.
As of now, there are sixteen different types of content on offer including Ghost in the Shell Virtual Reality Diver, an Attack on Titan 360º experience, and the horror movie Ghost Theater in 360º.
For those lucky enough to be in Japan, prices start from ¥300 per VR session. You first go to the counter and rent a VR headset and any other gear needed, before going to one of the specialised booths. Have fun!

More information has been revealed about the upcoming Hatsune Miku game, Project Diva X HD. The game, which goes on sale today in Japan, has a 'live edit mode' which allows you to watch Miku's concerts in VR.
Hatsune Miku Project Diva X HD will provide a total of 32 songs - 30 from the main game ans two extra available downloads.
Now, a new PV has been revealed bringing together all of the available songs in the game, with over 13 minutes of content! Watch it below.

What You Need to Know:

It has been announced that super popular mobile game Yume Oukoku to Nemureru 100-nin no Oujisama, aka Yume100, will be giving fans the chance to meet their princes in a VR setting!
The virtual reality experience will be on offer at in the HMM Shop in La Foret, Harajuku sometime in spring 2017.
What exactly the VR contents will contain is not yet known, but more details are expected to be announced soon.

Today Famitsu has announced that a new, PS4 only VR Romance Dating Sim is coming! Titled "Shiawase Sou Kanrijin-san" or "Happiness Manor Administator" the story is as follows below.
Somewhere in Japan in a certain prefecture, there is a city called Hanazaki City. In Hanazaki City a mansion called "Happiness Manor" stands. However it is not actually equipped to be a mansion and there are only three girls living there! In this game, you are a brand new manager of the building and begin to work in "Happiness Manor" while getting the girl of your choice to fall in love with you. This game supports PSVR too but don't worry as you do not need to have it to play the game.
