Project LUX Multi-end VR Anime in the Works

What You Need to Know:

  • Doujin (self-publishing) group Spicy Tails are in the midst of creating a VR game for HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and PS VR titled Project LUX.
  • Project LUX is set in a world where most humans have become cyborgs. In this world where even entertainment is automatically produced, there lives a lone human artist - a girl named Lux.
  • In the game, the player takes on the role of an agent who must interact with Lux over five chapters. You can choose the topic of coversation and freely look and walk around Lux's room.
  • The game will be story-based, making it much like a VR anime with multiple endings, and is set to come out by the end of this year. A short gameplay video has also been released - check it out below!

Adventure Game Kowloon's Gate Coming to PS VR

What You Need to Know:

  • Kowloon's Gate, an adventure game released for the PlayStation back in 1997, was something of a cult hit here in Japan. Now, it has a VR project in the works!
  • Titled Kowloon's Gate VR: Suzaku, the new virtual reality game made over double its crowdfunding target, and is set for release in 2017 to mark the original game's 20th anniversary.
  • Following in the original's footsteps, the VR version will be available for PlayStation VR. Check out the short gameplay video below!

Korean Horror Game White Day: Swan Song Coming to PS VR

What You Need to Know:

  • White Day is a classic horror game from Korea which first came out in 2001. It went on to be remade as a mobile game in 2015, and there are now plans for it to be released for PS4 and PC (Steam) on 14 March 2017.
  • What's more, an all-new game is in the works for PS VR, Swan Song. In the game, the player must escape a school building with 6 girls, each of whom have their own ending, much like a horror dating sim.
  • There's no PV for the new game, but check out the PS4 White Day teaser below (Korean only).

VR Game Overturn Announced for Oculus Rift

What You Need to Know:

  • Korean game creators STUDIO HG have announced a new game at Korea's game convention G-STAR.
  • Titled Overturn, it will be a shooting game for the Oculus Rift, and is set to come out sometime next year.
  • In the game, players can enjoy giant robot battles. There will also be adventure and story elements.
  • There's no PV for the new game yet, but you can check out the launching trailer for STUDIO HG's current game Smashing the Battle below!

What You Need to Know:

  • A crowdfunding project aiming to create the ultimate 2D virtual sleeping experience recently gained almost double its original goal and is set to come out some time in 2017.
  • The creators are aiming to release the game for free on smartphone VR, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and will feature vocaloid character Touhoku Zunko.
  • In the game, players will be able to curl up on Zunko's lap and sleep next to her. Thanks to the stretch goal being reached, there will also be a version with her wearing a uniform available.

VR Escape Game Enigma Sphere Gameplay Trailer Released

What You Need to Know:

  • Japanese VR startup company Yomune.co have released a gameplay trailer for their co-op puzzle game Enigma Sphere.
  • According to the official website, the story of the game is as follows: "The game's story begins with alien lifeforms plotting to destroy earth from light-years away. The player is part of an elite team of Super Hackers responsible for taking control of the aliens' android army. "
  • In the game, which is set for release for Oculus Rift on 6 December 2016, players must try to escape from a room by solving various puzzles. There will be twenty stages in total. Check out the gameplay video below!

  • A new mode has been added to mobile VR game Punchline VR Museum. Known as Cinnamon Mode, by finding cinnamon in a room and focusing their line of sight on it, players will be able to play tricks on the characters for a limited time.
  • What kind of tricks? Well, by staring at the character, players can surprise them and make them jump! Different angles and lines of sight will cause different reactions, and the amount of time you can stay in Cinnamon Mode depends on your spirit level. Take a look at the video for a better idea!
  • Punchline VR Museum is available for iOS and Android as is playable with or without a VR headset. In the game, players take on the role of anime protagonist Yuuta Iritatsu and explore the Koraikan.

  • Japanese digital goods brand Gugenka have announced the release of a series of Re: Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu VR apps, titled Re: Zero VR de Isekai Seikatsu.
  • This includes two versions of VR de Rem to Isekai Seikatsu, one where you can lay on her lap, and another where you can lay beside her.
  • In the virtual reality applications, you take the place of Subaru in the other world, and experience 24 different scenarios with Rem in total - she'll even say her most famous lines!
  • The VR apps will be available from 26 May 2017 on iOS and Android for ¥960 each, but will sadly only be available in Japan. Check out the teaser PV below!

  • OVERTURN, the first-person shooter (FPS) action-puzzle adventure game developed specifically for virtual reality on Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, is now live on Steam Greenlight.
  • OVERTURN’s adventure fuses puzzle elements with explosive action scenes across multiple stages, challenging players to use a wide array of weapons to fight off enemies.
  • OVERTURN will later release multiplayer functionality sometime following the game’s launch. In the story mode where quick reactions and sharp shooting are needed to stay alive, OVERTURN immerses players within a FPS adventure facing an onslaught of robotic enemies. With a free locomotion movement system, players will encounter a new companion, MAGI, who can help assist their character on their journey. Synopsis

During your journey to escape the evil laboratory, you’ll find a woman still suffering from the lab’s ongoing experiments. Although you are horrified by the psychic powers that she possesses, your new companion, MAGI, stands to help you immensely throughout your fight for freedom. With offensive powerups like Infinite Charge, Grenade, and Battle MAGI, and defensive abilities such as Time Slow, Shield, and HP, MAGI has the power to destroy life - but it may be too much to handle.

  • For those residing in Japan this is perhaps some great news for you, since Shinjuku is located right in the heart of Tokyo so it's just a simple train ride away. Those outside of Japan however, this may be some news worth traveling for!
  • Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. will open the largest VR entertainment facility in Japan, “VR ZONE™ SHINJUKU”, in Shinjuku Kabukicho Tokyo on Friday, July 14.
  • Building upon the success of the previous “VR ZONE Project i Can™” facility, VR ZONE SHINJUKU will house over 15 activities featuring some popular IPs such as Dragon Ball VR "Master of the Kamehameha", Evangelion VR “The Throne of Souls”, Ghost in the Shell Arise: Stealth Hounds, along with everyone's favorite karting game MARIO KART ARCADE GP VR!
  • VR ZONE SHINJUKU will also include a wide range of new VR activities where guests will be able to experience exploring a fantasy world on a winged bicycle, a horror-filled dinosaur survival run, and much more. Every activity is designed for guests to lose themselves in the immersive VR experience.
